Post abortion syndrome

Submitted by Administrador
  • "Syndrome" is the association of several clinically recognizable features, signs or symptoms. The post-abortion syndrome is a cluster of symptoms that women who have experimented abortions.
  • Today, although it has long denied its existence, mainly for ideological reasons, even one of the most important abortion institutions, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) asserted that studies have shown the incidence of post procedural trauma for abortion patient to be as high as 91 % of all cases.

  • We can summarize some of its symptoms:
    • Guilt,
    • Numbness,
    • Emotionally cold and unresponsive,
    • Anxiety,
    • Depression,
    • Suicidal impulses,
    • Alcohol and/or drug use,
    • Nightmares,
    • Eating disorders,
    • Anxiety over fertility and childbearing issues,
    • Loss of interest in sex OR promiscuity,
    • Avoidance of baby reminders (like baby showers, baby stores, etc.),
    • Control issues,
    • Over-protection of living children,
    • Pre-occupation with becoming pregnant again,
    • Strained relationship with living children,
    • Resentment toward those who were involved in the abortion decision,
    • "Anniversary" syndrome, an increase in symptoms around the time of the anniversary of the abortion or due date of the child,

  • Often, when we think of post-abortion syndrome, we reduce its influence only on woman who suffered an abortion, although it is true that she lives this experience in a unique way, we can not reduce the negative impact of abortion only on her, but also on:
    • The father of the aborted child.
    • Siblings of the child aborted.
    • Grandparents.
    • The family.
    • Society as a whole.

  • She didn't took alone the "decision", she didn't abort alone, neither she is the only one to suffer.
  • This drama is so widespread, we can affirm that all of us, in our family or among our friends we live with people who have suffered an abortion.
